Perhaps we have instead been skeptical of the human capacity to know; now we may find that knowledge can be self-sufficient and self-encouraging, dealing with obstacles directly through a more comprehensive knowing.
LOK, p. 51: Whether we look to tradition, the instruction of parents, the advice of friends or experts, the guidance of a supernatural power, or perhaps simply the accumulated memories of prior acts of knowing, the outcome is the same: the substitution of a belief for knowledge.
